Project description

The Cranbourne Station Upgrade is complete. The Project delivered:
  • a new overnight storage facility for six trains
  • a significant upgrade to Cranbourne Station, and
  • an upgrade to the bus interchange.
The project works also included the addition of over 400 new car spaces.

Project benefits
  • Storing trains at Cranbourne overnight eliminates 'empty train movements' where trains need to travel from other stabling locations to the start/end of the line to begin operations.
  • The project delivers in greater reliability for commuters and greater flexibility for timetabling as trains start and terminate at the end of the line.
  • Commuters are benefiting from a significant upgrade to Cranbourne Station including improvements to footpaths, facilities, amenity, security and access.
  • More than 400 extra car spaces were added to Cranbourne Station as part of the project, bringing the total number of car spaces to 700.
