Transport Demand Information Atlas for Victoria 2008

Released: February 2008

The Transport Demand Information Atlas seeks to compile reliable and recent data relating to key aspects of the passenger and freight tasks. It uses Census data, other data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, survey data commissioned by the Department, and time use analysis by Melbourne University economists.

Customer Service Charters

Released: May 2005

Victoria's major train and tram operators are required to have Customer Service Charters that clearly define their responsibilities and obligations and provide important information and advice to customers.

Linking Melbourne: Metropolitan Transport Plan

Linking Melbourne: Metropolitan Transport Plan is an integrated transport plan for the management and development of Melbourne's transport system. The Plan considers personal travel - walking, cycling, trains, trams, buses, taxis, cars and motorcycles - as well as the movement of freight via roads, rail and ports, outlining strategies and actions for the next 4–5 years.

Review of Arrangements for Authorised Officers Employed by Public Transport Operators

Released: October 2003

In May 2002, the Victorian Parliamentary Law Reform Committee released a report on its inquiry into the Powers of Entry, Search, Seizure and Questioning by Authorised Persons. This included examining the powers of public transport ticket inspectors, resulting in 19 recommendations specifically relating to reforming the powers exercised by Authorised Officers employed by public transport operators. In response, Government commissioned a review by independent consultant, Rob McQuillen.

Downie Consulting was commissioned by the State Government in 2002 to undertake an independent audit of Melbourne's Automatic Ticketing System.
2001 Independent Audit of the Automatic Ticketing System

Released: May 2001

The Miller Network Group was commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure to undertake an independent audit of Melbourne's automated ticketing system in May 2001. The audit comprised the collection and analysis of data on the operational state of ticketing equipment and a review of the Automated Ticketing System contracts.
