The Department of Transport delivers projects to enhance the public transport system. Many of these projects are key actions from the Government's

Local Area Access Program - grants for local governments to deliver small scale transport projects.
New ticketing for public transport (myki) - being rolled out from 2007.
Safer public transport - projects and programs to improve the safety and security of the public transport system.
Transport interchange upgrades - ensuring easy and efficient transfers between public transport.
Road projects - VicRoads works with the Department of Transport to improve reliability and accessibility of public transport on roads.
