Tenders and Grants

The Department of Transport supports the Victorian community through its grant and funding programs. Through the tenders process the department also purchases a wide variety of goods, services and infrastructure from the private sector.

Public tenders

The Victorian Government Tenders System website allows you to access Victorian Government Requests for Tender online. Users must register and log in. Registrants are updated on any changes to a Request for Tender for which they have registered interest, and informed of answers to any queries submitted prior to the tender closing date.

The Tenders website provides related information on tenders such as
  • advice to suppliers on selling to the Victorian Government
  • details of seminars on how to win government business
  • contact details for senior purchasing staff in Victorian Government departments
  • and the answers to frequently asked questions.
Tenders are also advertised in the Herald Sun newspaper on Wednesdays.
Grants and funding programs

The following table provides a basic description of the department's grants and funding programs with links to further details.

Transport projectsThe TravelSmart and Local Area Access Program grants encourage more sustainable travel behaviour and improve ease of access for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users to local facilities, jobs and activities.
Marine Safety VictoriaThe Boating Safety and Facilities Program offers grants based funding to boating, fishing and community groups, search and rescue organisations, local waterway authorities, government agencies and committees of management.
VicRoadsBlackspot Programs target existing blackspots and black lengths on State highways, main roads and local roads.
