Stronger taxi driver communication channels
Taxi drivers are the best people to tell the government about the real issues taxi drivers are facing every day.
To enable this, the Victorian Taxi Directorate has established the Taxi Drivers Advisory Group, a taxi drivers webpage and provided ongoing support for the Victorian Taxi Drivers' Association to encourage taxi drivers to communicate with Government.

What we are doing
The Victorian Government is building stronger channels to communicate with taxi drivers on important issues.
The government is also providing ongoing support to the Victorian Taxi Drivers Association.
Why we are doing it
Regular, two-way communication with taxi drivers is important for the government to ensure the policies and initiatives we are rolling out are feasible, viable and realistic.
Establishing stronger communication channels allows taxi drivers to feed information and concerns through to their representatives and on to the government in a coordinated way.
What has happened to date
A new Taxi Driver Liaison Officer started with the Victorian Taxi Directorate in April 2008. The role was created to strengthen the relationship between taxi drivers, industry groups and the Government by providing advice and information directly to taxi drivers.
The
Taxi Drivers Advisory Group has been established, reporting to the Victorian Taxi Directorate on a regular basis and providing feedback on Victorian Taxi Directorate and Government initiatives.
The
taxi drivers webpage has been designed so drivers have a central source of information which meets their needs.
All active Victorian taxi drivers receive regular newsletters from the Victorian Taxi Directorate which communicate important information, including updates on safety initiatives and education campaigns, changes within the taxi industry, new regulations and who to contact for assistance.
