Department of Transport Disability Action Plan
The Department of Transport (DOT) continually strives to build a culture of inclusiveness. The Disability Action Plan (DAP) is one initiative which sets out a responsible and a realistic plan to reach DOT’s objective; to build a culture of inclusiveness.
This DAP represents a commitment by the Department to ensure that discrimination on the grounds of disability is eliminated, as far as possible, from the programs and services which we deliver on behalf of the Victorian Government.
We are aware of our legal requirement to have a DAP in place. Furthermore, we appreciate the importance of having one in place to promote positive outcomes for people with a disability. We are in the process of undertaking a comprehensive review of our existing DAP. The new DOT Disability Action Plan 2009-11 will be published on our website shortly.
The DOT Disability Action Plan 2009-11 will address four key outcome areas, as specified in the Disability Act 2006:
- Reducing barriers to persons with a disability accessing goods, services and facilities
- Reducing barriers to persons with a disability obtaining and maintaining employment
- Promoting inclusion and participation in the community of persons with a disability
- Achieving tangible changes in attitudes and practices which discriminate against persons with a disability
The
Disability Action Plan 2005-07 (PDF, 138 KB, 24 pp.) identified the initiatives and actions the department set out to implement to eliminate discrimination against people with disabilities and create a more inclusive workplace. The plan is also available in a
Rich Text Format version (1.9 MB).
During 2008, a comprehensive review took place in preparation for the new DOT Disability Action Plan 2009-11. DOT will continue to move forward by retaining several of the actions from the existing plan and the 'plan in review':
The purpose of the 'plan in review' was to ensure all objectives from the 2005-07 DAP were realised, while allowing for a comprehensive review and consultation to develop the plan for the future. This new document is also available in a
Rich Text Format version (60 KB)
