Portfolio responsibilities
As Minister for Public Transport, Ms Kosky oversees Victoria's extensive and world class public transport system and the implementation of
The Victorian Transport Plan.
The Public Transport portfolio covers:
- contract and lease arrangements for train, tram, bus services and infrastructure
- regulation of taxi industry
- regulation of public transport safety
- accessible transport services and facilities
- management of large and complex transport infrastructure projects crucial to State development
Personal profile
Minister Kosky holds the Ministerial portfolio of Public Transport and also has the responsibility for the Arts portfolio in the Victorian State Government. She was previously Minister for Education and Training from February 2002 to November 2006 and prior to that she served as the Minister for Finance and Minister for Post Compulsory Education, Training and Employment. Minister Kosky has been the Member for Altona since being elected in 1996.
Minister Kosky has a long and continuing association with the western suburbs of Melbourne, completing her primary and secondary schooling in the western region. After graduating from Social Work at Melbourne University in 1980, she became active as a community leader and has been a passionate advocate for Melbourne's west.
